Ingredients:

Let’s Cook: Knead flour, butter, sugar, milk, baking powder, lemon peel and salt into a softball and leave to stand for one hour. Roll out sections of the dough on a floured board to 1/8-inch thickness and cut out circles with a 2-3 inch tumbler. Place the cookies on a small round object such as a thimble. Remove centers and use them to make more cookies. Coat the dough “wreaths” with beaten egg and sprinkle them with a mixture of rock sugar and blanched, chopped almonds. Bake about 15-20 minutes in a 350-degree oven until golden brown. Leave to cool until no longer soft. Put colored ribbons through the holes and hang them on the Christmas tree.
